The beauty of the wine produced here is that each and every region is known for certain types, meaning that there truly is a wholesome range of wines for you to work through. There is something for every taste preference.
Italian White Wines
It is also home to some of the most famous and prestigious wineries in the world. For example, for whites there is the La Scolca, who are world famous for their Gavi, which has even led them to trademark the term ‘Gavi dei Gavi’. Italy is of course home to Santa Margherita, who invented Pinot Grigio, which is absolutely fantastic and beats any supermarket white wine by a mile.
There are plenty of natural white wine makers in Italy that create fine organic and biodynamic wines of which consumers are getting more of a chance to enjoy. Certain regions such as Livon and St Michael Eppan are superb choices for any Italian white wine that has good growing and making techniques.
Italian Red Wines
There are some incredible red wines originating from Italy. A particularly good wine from there is the Amarones from Zenato, which have shown to be consistently brilliant each and every year. The Zenato Ripassa is also another fantastic choice that comes in at a little cheaper than the Amarones.
There is however, much more to Italian red wine that these. Most of the Italian reds are famous in their own right, with each region contributing beautiful wines for us to taste. There are many natural wine producers in Italy, such as Sequerciani – who farm traditional grapes for their wines and supply beautiful tasting wines at reasonable prices. There is undoubtedly a red from Italy to suit each and every taste preference and budget.
